D’Atra Hicks signs with Walker & Associates. In a bold move to unite two of the biggest players in their respective fields, popular gospel singer D’Atra Hicks has decided to ink the dotted line with top entertainment attorney James L. Walker Jr. of Walker & Associates.
“I’ve seen how [Walker & Associates] have dealt with some of the other artists in my genre,” says a happy D’Atra Hicks, “I know both my music career and I are in more than safe hands.”
“It gives me a great honor and privilege to work with one of the most talented singers and artists in the world,” says Attorney James L. Walker Jr., “Since her days of Mama I Want to Sing, and numerous other Tyler Perry hit plays, D’Atra Hicks has been a trailblazer. As a firm, we look forward to working with her and the various talents and gifts she has to offer.”
D’Atra Hicks, who was born in Harlem, has been performing since a very young and tender age. Ironically, Hicks first utilized her angelic voice in her grandfather’s church choir. Once a teenager, Hicks grouped up with her sister and began performing as “The Hicks Sisters.” Soon after the group’s inception, they recorded a demo, which found the attention of the producers of the play Mama I Want to Sing. The play became the most popular off-Broadway black musical in the history of theatrics. These experiences have helped to mold Hicks into the beautifully sounding and elegant singer she is today.
James L. Walker Jr. knows that there is more to music than the God given gift of voice and artistry. His firm, Walker & Associates, truly cares for his artists’ best intentions and strives to make sure the only thing they have to worry about is finessing their music. As he has handled the careers of many other gospel acts, James not only has more than a fair amount of experience in the field of entertainment, he truly loves the genre. |
